RIP Glenn Frey

Glenn Frey, one of the founding members of the pop/country group The Eagles died yesterday. I loved the Eagles and have seen them perform three times, starting in 1994 with their "Hell Freezes Over" tour. They named it that because when they broke up in 1980, they said hell would freeze over before they would get together again. Since then they have gotten back together and toured several more times. Glenn also had a good solo career and did some acting.

With David Bowie passing last week, I wonder if a third singer is about to die. Seems like deaths always come in threes.

Their music has always been in my life, since I was conceived. R.I.P. Glen Frey.

Are you serious? Wow. I grew up listening to classic rock, and the Eagles have always been one of my favorites from that genre.

And actually, Natalie Cole died at the beginning of the year, so I guess Glenn is the third.

Doing an Eagles tribute as part of our set tonight. Usually "Take It Easy" and "Hotel California" are staples for this group, I am trying to master all the lyrics for "Peaceful Easy Feeling" for tonight. I will also do some backing stuff for a couple other Eagles tunes my friend is taking the lead on. People will go crazy with Eagles requests for the next few weeks before going back to their standard ones.

RIP to a fabulous song writer, vocalist, and instrumentalist.

Also Lemmy from Motorhead died two weeks ago.

Seriously, the number of celebrity deaths in 2016 is getting weird. I think I count five so far? At least three of which are musicians? And I'm sure there are some I'm missing.

I can think of four right off the top of my head, and that doesn't include Celine Dion's husband and her brother...which would bring it up to six.
I mean, people die every day, thousands of them, but this much high-profile death? Well, many of them are of an age (all over 65 except for one, I think). It's pretty horrible either way.

I grew up on classic rock as well. I'm never gonna see the Eagles quite the same way again.

Makes ya feel old.

And, we have parents that feel that much older.
I was given "Hell Freezes Over," for my birthday, last year. I loved the song "Victim Of Love," when Dad would have KZOK on, and they'd play it. It's very sad.
RIP Glen Frey! We miss you!
